Una McCluskey is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of York and a trainer, consultant and supervisor in the model she has created for working with the dynamics of attachment in adult life. This model is relevant to individual, group and organisational development.
This workshop will present video material which illustrates what is meant by biologically based goal-corrected systems, such as the systems for caregiving, careseeking and self-defence.
- Participants will be able to discriminate between the concept of ‘goal-directed’ and ‘goal-corrected’.
- Participants will be able to see shifts in the vitality affects as different systems are goal-corrected
- Participants will be able to explore what is meant by biologically- based interpersonal systems.
- Participants will be able to see how a person’s innate exploratory system (which is not part of the attachment dynamic) is freed to work. This happens when the attachment systems which are aroused are enabled, through the interaction with an exploratory caregiver, to reach their goal.
- Participants will be able to explore a new paradigm for understanding human development, based on the idea of a single process which swings into action when a person feels under threat.
- Assessment tools will be provided to enable participants to make formulations of attachment behaviour. This will be useful for clinicians or supervisors in clinical practice or organisations.
The workshop is held in English.
